Dallas residents may be interested in the story of two people who are facing murder charges in Fort Worth. Police allege that the two people are connected with the death of a woman in an apartment fire in November.

On the morning of Nov. 28, Fort Worth firefighters received a report that a second-floor apartment was on fire. When the firefighters arrived at the residence of a 31-year-old Fort Worth woman, they discovered a fire that was being kept at bay by the apartment’s sprinkler system. They found the body of the woman inside of the apartment. Police investigators told media outlets that they did not believe the woman died as a result of natural causes. They launched a homicide investigation into the woman’s death.

On Dec. 5, police officers arrested a 19-year-old Amarillo man and a 25-year-old Tarrant County woman. Both have been charged with capital murder for the alleged homicide of the Fort Worth woman. The Tarrant County woman is in custody Fort Worth, and the man is set to be transported to the same facility. According to reports, each will have a bond of half a million dollars. The man and woman were arrested earlier this year after police claim they stole thousands of dollars of merchandise from the clothing store where the Fort Worth woman worked prior to her death. Police are not claiming that the two alleged incidents are connected.

Murder charges can be extremely serious and failure to defend against them properly can lead to a criminal conviction. The penalties for murder often include a lengthy prison sentence. An attorney with experience in criminal defense may be able to help by negotiating a plea bargain or defending against the charges at trial.
